I am NOT diagnosing nor prescribing anything with this blog. As with all information, use at your own risk, after weighing your options. Check with your doctor/naturopath, always. Make sure you read labels--products change all the time.
Whatever I review here is my own opinion, how it works for me, doesn't work for me, etc. I am not paid to give reviews. I'm just one of millions of allergy sufferers/food sensitive individuals looking for a way to make life more pleasant and healthier for me.
I have a combination of allergies and intolerances, AND I am carb sensitive and a hair over the line into type 2 diabetes so I have to be on a low carb diet via doctor's orders (between 30-50 grams a day). I do much better on more meats, veggies, and fruits than I do most grains and starches. So now, I'm counting carbs, and feeling better, and missing more fruit.
I cannot have gluten, most dairy, garlic, onions, oysters, yeast, shrimp, oranges, peanuts, and a host of other things. I'm hoping some of the intolerances will change as my body changes.

MAURA ANDERSON:
I was formally diagnosed with celiac disease in November of 2009 after more than twenty years of making excuses for my health issues and putting problems off to "having a sensitive stomach" or "stress". When I was severely bitten by one of my cats (NOT his fault really) and I spent a month on antibiotics and with a raging hand infection, my body went into full rebellion and I got diagnosed with celiac disease. If you know much about celiac or read about it, you will find that a health crisis often brings on unbearable symptoms in a person who was either asymptomatic or had mild symptoms previously. This is exactly what happened to me.
My body surrendered.
Only recently have I found out that I have something called "Syndrome X" or "Metabolic Syndrome" which is also called insulin resistance. This means that I stand a chance of developing type 2 diabetes if I do not make changes in my life and my diet to both lose weight and reduce the carbs I consume.
Like my friend and mentor, Yasmine, I am on a gluten-free, low-carb diet. We differ in how we approach our lifestyle changes but that's normal because we are different people with different underlying issues and different needs. We don't always agree but we have the same goal - HEALTH and HAPPINESS.
